Dr. Patricia Britto is an Educational Psychologist, mother, and the founder of Mode Educational Psychology Service. With an unstoppable zest for life and a deep commitment to children and young people, she’s passionate about helping them thrive. 

Dr. Britto values inclusivity, authenticity and freedom, believing that everyone deserves to be themselves without restrictions. She’s seen firsthand the barriers that arise when children and young people don’t receive the timely support they need, and she’s driven by the meaningful work by using psychology to help families and educational settings understand how best to support them. 

Dr. Britto offers comprehensive, personalised and an ethical services. She collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to address children’s needs holistically, often involving other experts (e.g., Speech and Language Therapists) and services like the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) when necessary. 

Bringing both serious commitment and relentless enthusiasm to her work, Dr. Britto believes that where families thrive, minds flourish. Dr Britto is dedicated to making her support accessible, leading with a purpose to achieve meaningful change in how children and young people are supported.

With a vision that extends globally, Dr. Britto is expanding her reach to make a broader impact. She knows that courage is contagious, and that hope can ignite profound positive changes in the lives of children and young with or without special educational needs.

Qualifications and Experience 

Educational Background: 

  • Doctorate in Professional Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology (DEdPsy), UCL, Institute of Education 

  • MSc Mental Health in Learning Disabilities, Kings College London, Institute of Psychiatry 

  • BSc Psychology, University of Portsmouth 

Professional Experience: 

  • Independent practice at Harley Street 

  • Formerly with Local Authorities Educational Psychology Services.

  • Formerly a Teacher in a sixth form college and a Lecturer in an FE college for post 16 pupils - with over 14 years experience of working with children and young people.

  • Expertise in promoting the learning, social, emotional, and mental well-being of children and young people (ages 0-25).

Specialties and Expertise (including but not limited to:)

  • Practical and solution-focused strategies for emotional regulation and behavioural management and evidence-based parenting techniques.

  • Addressing Emotional-Based School Avoidance (EBSA), mental health difficulties, and neurodiverse needs (e.g., Attentive Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder [ADHD], Autism Spectrum Condition [ASC], Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Tourette Syndrome and many more) and providing psychological support to those with complex medical needs (e.g., Epilepsy, Genetic conditions and many more). 

  • Understanding developmental needs and the impact of adverse childhood experiences on children in care, adopted children and care leavers.

  • Addressing specific literacy and numeracy difficulties .

  • Providing an understanding on the use of latest research to improve learning outcomes (e.g., the role of metacognition in developing reading skills).

  • Tailored support to meet individual needs within the context of educational settings, home and community.
